Day 10

Still in the game.

My dear friend, you will always, always be in the game. There's absolutely no escaping the game. The question just is: Will you be winning or losing?

This. And look in the mirror. That's your competition.

Hatzlocha in your journey.

Hi,
Ive had some ups and downs in the last few months.

The last couple weeks ive made a couple changes to my behaviors (mainly keeping my filter locked the way it's supposed to) and has been more or less smooth.

I often think (or would like to think) im still in the game.

Good shabbos and a good chodesh!

Hi everyone, some may remember me...but it seems like most of the guys are newer.

I've have been lurking around over the last few months.

It seems i have never really kicked the habit of porn. It's detrimental to mental health and ultimately, my physical health.
also, it gets in the way of shidduchim that of which I'm not proud of.

I'm here to say, that Bli Neder, by tomorrow night iI Will purchase

1 An apple phone and place proper restrictions on it

Or

2 there is a Jewish company (maxsippure.com) im told will have a sale on their kosher phone for about $100 and then $7.50 monthly (if your going to use your own service)

There are pros and cons for both of these options. I would love to hear if anyone found one to work better for them over the other.

I'll be back!

Hey buddy!

Great to see you back at it on here, wishing you much success!

In my experience, putting Apple restrictions on are not always enough, as it's quite easy to have the person who made the code put it in and then be "matir" a bunch of questionable stuff without them realizing. You can solve this problem by having TAG set your code for you, but it's not foolproof. If you do decide to get an iPhone, you should definitely get an external filter or at least have TAG put it in.

I've never heard of Maxisppure so I cannot speak to that. I know that KosherCell is pretty good, though they're more expensive then $100...

Looking forward to hearing more from you, both online and offline...
All the best!

I believe tag stopped using apple restrictions because there are ways around it. Also there is a quite cheap filter called mbsmart for the iPhone which tag does recommend. The chesoron of maxispure and koshercell is u can't get a browser. The maala of a browser is u can have shopping with a skin block. Which is not so on the apps, because besides Amazon (which mbsmart can filter the app) any shopping app you have can access not nice things. Therefore getting a browser and blocking everything besides ebay Walmart target... Is a much better option than getting no browser and apps. This is what I was told by tag when I brought in an iPhone to filter.

Just to clarify iphone restrictions, since I dealt with this with TAG recently.
Restrictions are not great. TAG can do restrictions + a free device management software that is very good as long as you don't have a browser and are very careful what apps you put on. There's one or two small loopholes that currently cannot be blocked, but will not show much of anything.
TAG Lakewood recommends only mb smart (which is very cheap) and not restrictions. Other TAG's will recommend restrictions (plus the other software) for adults. Talk to them about your needs.

One important problem with restrictions is ios updates have been known to mess them up. Significantly, many beta users of ios 18 (which will be released in a couple months) have reported restrictions being reset. For that reason alone, unless you trust yourself to run back to TAG and reinstall restrictions if they disappear, it's better to go with MB smart than restrictions.

I believe MB smart will work for android or apple pretty much equally well.

A note on TAG - some of the people know more than others. Don't be afraid to ask to see someone else if you think the person helping you is not helping enough (or you are embarrassed to tell them what you need).
