What does the Lubavitcher Rebbe say about the “12 step program” concept?

Are there any majorly accepted authorities who have spoken about this? (I’m not looking for some “random” Rosh, with all due respect, rather known Tzadikim and Gaonim, such as the Rebbes of Chabad, R’ Moshe Feinstein, or the RamBam, or Acharonim…)

I don't know what the Lubavitcher Rebbe held about 12 steps, but I do know that the Rosh, זצ״ל, a helige rishon, was a Gaon and tzadik.

AA was founded in 1930's.
Combine that with the tendency to sweep addiction under the rug, the Jewish community hasn't really heard of 12-steps. I think Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski was the one that brought it to the frum community. I believe he has the haskama of Da'as Torah.

Also, AA/12-steps is intented for people who are in a place where it might be consider pikuach nefesh, if not refuas haguf, refuas hanefesh. So with things like this, you go to a Dr and do what he says.

I don't know about the Rebbe's views on this but see this article by Rabbi Twerski, Mussar and the 12 steps. it is very enlightening.

i never saw a clear answer of the rebbe about it but in general all the ideas of the 12 steps are basic concepts in chassidus, the baal shem tov thought over and over that g-d loves every jew like an only child, pumishments in torah are from love like a father cleans his child from shmutz. etc etc. (some jews educated without chassidus have a hard time with thses ideas. check this out www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/1761295/jewish/God-of-Our-Understanding-Jewish-Spirituality-and-Recovery-from-Addiction.htm
(and really also in niglah but in parts less studied or emphasized in the yeshivish world for example this that we have a g-d who loves us no matter what is a gemarah kidushin 36, and its clear psukim.)
