Wow, this is amazing! I'm trying to learn more in order to replace the tumah with kedusha. It sounds good in theory and it's great to see that it actually worked for you! Just curious, do you still feel that you are an alcoholic? Can you be next to alcohol without loosing control? Many people compare alcohol addiction with p&m addiction and I'm just curious if you feel the same way.

I am probably speaking on behalf of a lot of folks here, but I suspect that there is a fascinating story behind how you discovered religious judaism.  If you are interested in sharing it I think you would have a captive audience.  Are you considering conversion? Do you keep the 7 Noahide laws?  Not that either of these matters, it just that you appear to have a good grasp of jewish concepts and phraseology and I (and I'm sure others as well) we're wondering where you picked it up, especially since you're out in Idaho.  On the other hand, if that's getting too personal just ignore the question.

Yes, I'll always be an alcoholic, but between the hard lessons I've learned and filling my soul with what it was meant to be filled with, I feel pretty secure these days.
Yes, I can probably be around others who are drinking and not be affected, but like shlomo hamelech say's, "why put yourself in that position?"
I'm not enslaved by alcohol anymore but I think P&m is by far harder to overcome, women are a natural desire for men, you would have to practically live in total isolation to avoid it, it's comes at you from so many directions, all you can really do is guard your eyes. Thanks for the reply.

I was a fanatical christian, one day I got a christian study bible and started looking up all the messianic passages, much to my disappointment I discovered that all the proofs the "New testament" (sorry about that) were really vague and far reaching at best, so I got online and talked to a Rabbi who set me straight, he then directed me to the seven noahide laws, which were nice but I still wanted more so now I'm into Jewish history and culture.
  I can so clearly see the hand of Hashem in the lives of the Jewish people, I have to look through the eyes of Torah but it's there, I would love nothing more to do than to convert, but after my trip to Israel (By the way, you don't see Israel you feel Israel) I came home and married a devout Roman Catholic which makes things kind of difficult at times, especially when I start getting zealous over Hashem, but I know Hashem has a purpose for me.

Yep, great crash course. I was born religious and there is so much in there that I was not aware of. I went to the Discovery program at Aish and Ken gave one of the lectures. If you ever go back to Israel try to go to the Discovery program, I think you'll like it.

I don't think I'll ever be able to make it back to Israel, but I'm very grateful to Hashem for letting me go that one time. I really think it was the best time of my life, davening at the Kotel, I've never been so spiritually moved in my life, I remember the first time I saw the walls of the old city in Jerusalem, I actually thought my knees were going to buckle, and the sense of awe was indescribable, I felt like a 20 year old, and my Jewish friend who escorted me everywhere, well, she finally made aliyah, I still Email her and tell her how she's living my dream.
