Wow. What a story. Reminds me of the story of Mar Ukvah in the gemara.

As Dov summed up so well:
"Inspiring how Hashem does a perfect job leading those who want to be led."

We can't profess to understand Hashem's ways, but the way I see it is that Hashem wanted to help you get out of the addiction, but in order to be zoche to His help, you needed a special zechus. So Hashem gave you this big nisayon - as if to ask you, "Do you really want this? Because if you do, here is your chance to get it - and fall in very deep. But if you really don't want this, NOW is the chance to make the decision". And your pure yiddishe neshama saw life and death before you, and you chose life. You were MOSSER NEFESH for LIFE. And this was exactly the zechus you needed to break free completely. The very koach of the mitzva was enough to shake off all the shmutz you were caught in!

Ashrecha. It is not common in today's world to hear such messiras nefesh for Kedusha.

Two great answers from others to this kind of thing: www.guardureyes.com/GUE/FAQ/FAQ24.asp
Great news! GYE's website is now MOBILE FRIENDLY and RESPONSIVE (meaning that the web-pages shrink to fit smaller screens). For the first time, users can use their smart phones to register on GYE, log in, browse the home-page, the articles, chat in the mobile chat-rooms, use the forums, and take advantage of the personal home-page - all from your phone!

There are still some bugs that are being worked on, and a few pages and features that aren't fully mobile-friendly yet (like the phone conferences page). We are looking for feedback please. If you have a smartphone, please try and use the website and features from your phone and send us notes on the bugs you find. Thank you!
If you are on the 90-Day Chart, your current clean streak will now display (by default) under your name on the forum. This helps encourage you and adds a level of accountability - since you know that all your forum friends will see it

If you do not want your current streak to display, go to your name on the 90-Day chart and select "Don't display streak on forum". See attached image.

You can toggle it to "Display" or "Don't Display" any time you want.

Hatzlacha!

I would never have been able to do it without you. I am confident now that I will succeed. You guys are literally saving people’s lives. It is such a big mitzvah and it is such a big kiddish Hashem! I can’t wait to get to 90 days so I can give the $90… I’m only 19 so I don’t even make money but to a cause like this I think everybody should donate. The amount of gratitude I have for this organization is tremendous. I am taking it upon myself to spread the knowledge you guys provide on the site. It is a big fight that every serious Jew must undertake and It’s a fight that will unite every denomination under one umbrella. There is much work to do though, and I am only 22 days so i shouldn’t get to confident but my excitement about about starting my life clean was just to much to contain! Thank you so much. Keep being mezakeh us, we need it!

This is a great place , honestly . and i felt i had to say thank you. Further more . For THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE i am approaching Rosh Hashana with a different feeling . FINALLY !! i am not the same as last year and years before . It wont be a repetition of every year . Fall (sin) -teshuva ( rosh hashana - ( fall again ) - rosh hashana again - fall again ....... this time is different . I want to give you a big hug . thank you and thank you again . Newaction ( finally ! and really SHEHECHIYANU ) I love you all . thanks a lot i can continue but have tears in my eyes thank you again.

Yes, it will still be a life time battle, but if I really want, I can keep on fighting - one day at a time - for the rest of my life.

Snowflake wrote: Being shomer is certainly no easy task and it is something which is a daily struggle and no one can claim to have found the cure. But that's the essence I guess. When you realize you're sick, you know your only choice is to take the appropriate medication and treatment. And if you do, day by day, you will be able to keep yourself clean. I've managed to stay clean for 238 days, B"H. Now, I wish to share not only strategies, but perspectives that GYE has shown me, which have proven effective. Like I said, I don't have the cure. But I've lived with the disease under control, B"H. I believe I can help others. Thank you for the great work from GYE, and thank you for giving me the opportunity of sharing it with other people.

My life has grown so much because of it, and there are dozens of families I have come to know personally who have been saved by recovery. And they found it through GYE.

Susanne wrote: Dear GYE, I am so grateful for what you provide. This is simply a fan letter. I am a single woman who needs ezras Hashem every day in every way, with more than one issue. Today's chizuk e-mail was so rich in help. Feeling hopeless and seeing effort as pointless is entirely a tool of the disease! May Hashem continue to bless your efforts and allow you to raise up the lives of good people who have a disease.

olamhabanik wrote: This is my first time trying to "get clean". I was in denial for many years thinking that this hobby was "no big deal", and even if it was a real problem I felt it was impossible to overcome. I was referred to this site by a close friend in passing and after reading through the many posts I began to come to the realization that if all these members can do it, then i can too.

But as i write this, i am thinking that of course, the general sadness, depression, overwhelming, and lack of control of my life are the clear things that I identified as causing me to fall in the past. (Add to it that I haven't really opened a sefer lately) So of course since that is what I am feeling now, of course i want to just escape back into P&M land.

So what is going to stop me?

It's good that you are identifying the triggers... That is why we need something like the 12-Step program to help us deal with the "bumps" of life without resorting to our drug...

Also, the TaPHSiC method is great at helping hold us back when we feel like you feel now... It gives us some serious reasons NOT to act out when we seem to have forgotten what's there to hold me back

Listen to this audio and read these 3 pages.
Good job on getting through the nisayon! However, ultimately we need to train ourselves not to look or we'll lose it at some point...

I know one guy who made a shavuah for 2 weeks to give $20 to tzedaka every time he took a second look at something triggering, or looked for more than 3 seconds... It really worked well for 2 weeks.

When the 2 weeks were over, he decided to wait and see if he needed to make the shavuah again or he could keep it up on his own, without the shavuah... And lo and behold, he was able to keep it up without the shavuah because his yetzer hara knew that the minute he would start slipping again he would anyway make the shavuah
Hatzlacha on your journey, but please be careful NOT TO GIVE PEOPLE IDEAS... When you write about what TYPE of porn you are struggling with, some of the people on this site might be tempted to check it out c"v. PLEASE BE MORE CAREFUL.
It's been a few years since we last designed our website www.guardyoureyes.com, and we feel it's time for a new home-page design. The main complaint we get is that there are so many tools and newcomers are confused about where to start... So our goal is to create a homepage that is easier for a newcomer to understand, i.e. what their first step or steps should be.

Our two main directions were to divide the tools by either (1) "Tools accessible without registrations" and "Tools accessible only with registration, and (2) to divide the tools by different levels (a) Tools you can do on your own (b) Anonymous Group Support (c) Live Help.

After considering these two approaches, we found a possible design that incorporates BOTH of these approaches. We played around with different ideas, which you can see on this page. We would like to ask everyone to please vote on which style they like best (and explain why as well).

Try to see it in the eyes of a newcomer. We're looking for a design that is pleasing to look at, as well as exudes clarity, warmth and professionalism.

You can either vote by posting here on the forum, or you can send your vote to me at eyes.guard@gmail.com. Please explain why you like best the design you chose. You can also send us your SECOND favorite - that is helpful too.

(We are also open to completely new ideas).

This is a chance to have a part and make a real difference in the future of GYE. Please share with us your feedback!

Thank you!
