Hey Zem,
couldn't sign on for a long time. Mazel Tov! It's a miracle, yes? Yes. Yes? Yes!
I am blessed to have been able to read your thread. Mostly for the stupid stuff that goes on. and then you'll post this a-bomb that just harpoons me in the kishkus, and makes me re-think things, or weep, or go off and have a talk with HBH. Thanks for being there.
Much love,
Joel

i recently started on my journey through this thread, it's gonna take a long time to read through all this chizzuk, shtussim and torah but i think i's going to be worth it.

i love reading about zemmy's son who's probably older than me by now. im also getting a real education about important things like cholinade.
FIVE STARS

i'm only about a fifth of the way there but i don't think anyone got the prize yet, sooo 2 and a half years later i'm going to give zemmy some closure

a little simcha??????????????????????????????????????? we need a giant dose of simcha. our entire life has to be beimcha
mitvah gedolah le'hiyos besimcha
so lets put a big (not little) smile on our face no matter how difficult things are for us!

HS, i'll drink to that one! huge giant doses of simcha for everyone!

trivia: whoever can show the original source of "Mitzvah Gedola Lihiyos Besimcha Tamid" gets bragging rights and 10 free smileys....

the first time i heard of it was from the miami boys choir on stand up album

www.mostlymusic.com/stand-up.html

and according to wikipedia the one who said it was "A popular teaching by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, a 19th century Chassidic Rabbi, is "Mitzvah Gedolah Le'hiyot Besimcha Tamid,"

and then i found the source (through another search)

Likutey Moharan II, Lessons #23 and 24 are lessons in which Rebbe Nachman focuses squarely on the avodah of simcha. (Lesson #24 is actually the source of “Mitzvah gedolah l’hiyot b’simcha tamid.”)
