How does one get haughty eyes? What is the connection between gazing at immodest images and haughty eyes?

Eyes that gaze where ever they like at the expense of Torah principles of modesty, fairness, decency; are haughty eyes.

In my opinion, haughtiness and pride is a condition where the person is not satisfied with normal, G-d given physical pleasures and goes out of his way to further his physical pleasures.

For example a person has a beautiful wife, but now wants to look at even more beauty he is being haughty and proud. He is endangering what he has.

If a person has a healthy physique but he now goes out in immodest clothes to further his pleasure, he is being proud and he is also endangering what he has.

Gazing at immodest internet can ruin one because it increases the pride of the eyes and the heart. Instead of pursuing physical pleasures one should pursue spiritual pleasures, like learning Torah?

The Sages of the Midrash advise a person who has sinned in one of these seven sins that G-d hates to correct his relationship with G-d by performing a mitzvah with the same organ.

"R. Nathan and Rabbi Acha in the name of Rabbi Simon said: If you have made a bundle of sins, against them perform bundles of mitzvot" (Vayikra Rabba 21:5)

If the Torah is all about the correct use of body organs like eyes,. tongue, hands heart, feet mouth. then when we gaze at immodest images we are a the wrong place , at the wrong time. Not only are we not learning correct action, we are learning incorrect action.

What does one derive from gazing at immodest internet? The body and mind do not need this in any way.... One may think one wants to, but it is definitely true that one does not need it. It is also true that it will not help but (heaven forbid) may harm a person. It may be a difficult thing to get away from.

The way to break this cycle is explained in the Talmud:

Talmud Kidushin 30b. Even so did the Holy One, blessed be He, speak unto Israel: ‘My children! I created the Evil Desire, but I [also] created the Torah, as its antidote; if you occupy yourselves with the Torah, you will not be delivered into his hand."

Thank you for your latest post. I'm not that into the karma feature of this forum, many times I don't notice it, however I did notice that you have what is possibly a record of negative karma.
It doesn't seem to bother you as you keep posting, however I just want to tell you that I enjoy reading your posts.
I can't argue for or against your position, but I don't care to dismiss it out of hand.
Maybe you should create a thread in the Torah and chizuk section and keep them all in one place? Just a suggestion.
