Something I was thinking about for Purim.

Chasam Sofer says the reason we drink at the seudah is because the Yidden sinned with znus at the seudah of Achashverosh so we put ourselves in a similar situation and don't sin. A complete form of teshuva.

Now, he says not to sin by not getting drunk.

But I was thinking of a different trick.

Purim is tough. Women all dressed up, a spirit of hefkeirus present, and of course, tons of alcohol. And this year I'm going to a much bigger seudah than usual.

So this Purim once I'm done driving I'm replacing my glasses with decorative sunglasses that are really hard to see through (and coordinate perfectly with my costume of course).


What's your trick for shemiras einayim on Purim?

To give y'all the eagerly awaited update.

I did do the glasses shtick. I ended up being by the more crowded Purim seudah for much shorter than expected. But it was jammed. Turns out that I was just busy doing my Purim thing and didn't look at anyone. I didn't even have a struggle to look or not. Interesting how that goes.
It's specially interesting since earlier in the day my eyes had been all over the place. Delivering shalach manos I had a real fight with almost every woman in a costume (Oh I wonder what her theme is. Let me investigate. . .) And lost the fight about 90% of the time.

Win some lose some. Life goes on.
