Thank you to every one who suggested and especially fwf for your insight. Im going to give this another shot. I wont listen to anything not Jewish this week. I dont want to commit to anything to big. But ill take it a week at a time

Just to share my personal experience. I am extremely sensitive to music. It molds my emotions and channels my feelings. A special
Niggun can change a whole Tefilla, or Shabbos. If I occasionally listen to a non Jewish song, it can have a powerful and deep effect on me. So, although I am often tempted, I almost never go there... the cost has proven to be too high, in many ways.
There are some songs that I have listened to in the past that are deeply burned into my consciousness.
I listen to them sometimes, playing in my heart, in the sound of silence, as I sit lonely, writing the words to a sermon that no one will hear, darning my socks in the night when there's nobody there....
