So yesterday I left my chiropractors office, got in my car and was pulling out of my parking spot in Beverly Hills

. A young woman probably in her late teens to  early twenties walked out of a store and the allure of her immodesty was too great to resist so I looked at her.

After abiding by a well exercised "three second rule" I drove away.

I thought to myself how terribly sad it is that as a society we have engineered Women to project themselves as sexual objects to be consumed (by Men) or competed with (by other Women).

Now, one could argue that she has every right too dress how she pleases and that she dressed that way indifferent to her concern for perception.

Perhaps she has great self esteem and would feel self empowered if she were wearing a draw string garbage bag,she may be an academic with a superior I.Q

but I believe that we would be foolish not to question the dubiousness  of such claims.

As a homeless  born again Christian from Alabama once said to me in a conversation( when a similar looking  young Woman walked by us):

  "Boy, let me tell ya...we  done a good job...we got them young girls walkin around almost fully neked !!!"

As a collective culture  we have fallen prey to the hypersexualization of the human spirit. Everyone is exploited. Women are just leading the race, but men are slaves to the industries (fashion,porn,fitness) as well. 

Every time we gawk, or lust over someone,  we are  being manipulated by someones profit motive. Perhaps the greatest tragedy  is we loose a precious opportunity  to consider Hashem's motivation in creating attraction in the first place.

 We dehumanize the object of our lust.

I am probably slow and stupid. I haven't the foggiest of the topic meanin' or the content.

And the part that I did understand, the mindset doesn't speak to me at all.

I, as a lustaholic, could place the blame of my sickness on many things - includin' society. I choose not to. I place it squarely on the round oblong object restin' (for the time bein') on my shoulders. I don't research the lives of porn stars and starlets to see how they live their life and if I am contributin' to their demise. (They contributed to mine, but that was my choice.) I don't analyze the characteristics or the mindset of the young woman exitin' the museum of Jurassic technology and what root causes are involved in why she dresses or undresses the way she does. (I do look at her characteristics and bones and shapes and curves....longer than three seconds as well), and afterwards, I think nothin' more of her.

But, whatever....if your mind games are helpin' you, go for it.

I don't think your snarky response is warranted nor  called for, but if undermining my analysis works for you...go for it. Reducing my insights to "mind games" is unacceptable  and I don't care if your a moderator or not. I'm going to call you on it.

You have been working program long enough to know that we take what works and leave the rest.
Perhaps the old adage should apply "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all"

If the only thing you had in your recovery tool box was this 'mind game', how sober would you be today?

My job is not to say only things which are "nice"; it is to offer guidance on what may or may not be a constructive perspective for recovery (and even then, I am clear that I am writin' about my own mindset).

ThatThat bein' said, I, nevertheless, left the door opened for others to do what works for them.

Having said that the original post was a nice analysis of society but it had little to do with the issues we face as lustaholics..
I just need a quiet spot and some kleenex to act out, the rest as pointed out is resting on my shoulders.
