umm... i had a medical scare.
very very scary.
davened with more kavana during that week than i had for a while
of course, i was depressed, so i just davened that it should be painless.
but BARUCH HASHEM it was just a scare,

now if i davened for my recovery like i davened then, who knows what would happen.

i'm gonna keep that in mind when i daven mincha today.

I tried deleting it, but just as I tried pressing delete, a big piece of concrete from the ceiling fell smashing down an inch from where I was sitting, so I figured I'd better leave it

There have been a lot of sudden deaths in my neighborhood recently (oh no, now you know where I live).

A buchur died suddenly in his sleep.  A young woman suddenly had a hemmorage in her brain and died; her baby was saved by an emergency C-section.  The family is still sitting Shiva.

No sicknesses beforehand.  Just sudden.  And when you know these people, it's really sobering.

"Do teshuva one day before you die.'  You never think about it, but a perfectly fine and healthy person really can be here today and gone tomorrow.

We can't just keep on waiting to straighten things out.

It's not quite the same caliber but...

This morning I saw a pigeon get run over by a car.

The amazing thing was... it somehow stayed between the wheel.

It flew under the front of the car, flapped around, and came out the back.  Still alive and in one piece.

I was sure it was going to get squished.
