The people on this site either have a weakness for humor, or for lust.

There are perhaps people out there who actually relish this type of stuff (not the humor part, not worried about that)  and relish pulling others down.

But it seems to me like a possibility.

What less effective is it to find a PM in your email inbox, than a regular email?

But PM's can only be sent by registered users of our site, which makes it a little safer. Anyone plays games (like accusing Guard of not being an anav) and they are bumped from the site. Forever.

So I see no gain, and a possible (even if its a paranoid, once in a lifetime type of occurrence) loss... so why do it?

Worried about the humor issue...

You see no gain??? Like I wrote before: "We need to get in touch on a personal level with other people who are struggling, and stay in touch daily..." and the chatting is an awesome way to "get out of yourself" when feeling lust... This gain is HUGE, and it way out-weighs a possible "one in a lifetime occurrence" - as you wrote.

So I will have to humbly disagree. (And if you think I am not humble, watch out!  >)

I'm just deferring to Guard out of respect for him.

I hear his point... and I now realize that yahoo etc email addresses are better than going through this forum, since there is the ability to chat in yahoo.

I just think that these benefits will happen by default... once people get used to each other on the forum, and comfortable with someone else, they may naturally exchange emails or phone numbers by PM with each other. There still is a danger, of course, but that is not the forum's responsibility... that is simply a hazard that comes with the internet, its part of the game. Sorta like the possibility of being eaten by a lion when going on safari.

But to promote people just openly sporting their email addresses (even anon. ones) on line for all to see, seems to me like going on safari in middle of the night. Alone. Gives me the shudders just to think about it.
