[quote="Dov" post=227169]You didn't ask, but...

It sounds to me that you simply have not suffered enough pain from your lack of self-control. I wish you no pain c"v, but it seems to me that whatever pain you have had is just not enough to help you take this seriously - perhaps it has only been private and theoretical pain. Philosophic pain. Like the horrible guilt and the idea of gehinom, etc.
But if you get caught, get fired, or defamed publicly for doing the stuff you do in private, and the whole naked truth comes out to people who know you and love you - the realness will be there. The search for the most respectable, comfortable and convenient way out of this habit will suddenly end. Real measures will be taken.

Real powerful stuff!! we must not minimize...

Getting caught and the whole naked truth coming out to people who knew me and loved me did not cause any real change in me.

Ditto. Big time
Roy in the SA White Book noted that we frequently prayed and it did not work...because the best we could muster was begging G-d to "Please take it away, so I will not have to give it up!

Ummm

Laziness is not the greatest tool for recovery.

Ok - Back to my thread thx everyone

I struggled the other night accessing twitter from a travel app we downloaded on my phone specifically for an upcoming trip. Of course it starts innocent enuf - i was just listening to the game as I fell asleep, but the thrill of "hunting stuff down" (on twitter) was too much for me and I succumbed. [Maybe some of you know this feeling]. The app has now been deleted. [Of course i shud reach out to people before I do these things, but I did not.]

I worried about hypocrisy (my wife has mentioned this a few times) bec. since I am on the brink of getting Smicha, I go out and give drashos, shiurim, etc. in communities. And yet I am mistakel b'ervah mamash from time to time. I know the spiritual effect it has on me. I feel bad, but that doesn't stop me.

take care.

Yes, there are many that struggle with that.
That is why some require an 'outside' program for recovery.
The Torah approach doesn't do it for some.

Sorry, I haven't had time to be on here very much recently.

I've never been to a 12-step meeting. But I am in touch with real GYE members on a daily basis, either through chatting, email, phone or in person.

My shalom bayis is better than its been in years.

My thread is here.
