I just came here and clicked on the new topic, to see it filled with naughty pictures. I was able to close it so fast I surprised even myself, but something has to be done about this. We should not have to face this temptation while on this forum. Maybe image linking can be turned off on the forum?

This might be a messed up way of thinking but at times when I feel depressed about how low I have gone, its astonishing to realize how much lower other people can actually go by attempting to impede people like us who are trying to get better.
Good job on the quick close. As we all know by looking even for "just a second" things can go downhill very fast.

Wow that really ticks me off. I came here to get some inspiration because I was feeling weak, and that filth is posted here.

Worst thing is, I would think that it is another Jew.

Wish I could delete that. Someone may stumble. Someone who doesnt deserve to.

The post has been eliminated. Sorry you had to see it!  It is not from Jews but rather from goyim all around the world who  have people working for them, searching for any and all types of forums. They post their shmutz, and then move on to the next one.
I would recommend that when you see a topic that looks very suspicious, please do NOT click on it. It is almost 100% not from someone that belongs to this forum, and the title of the topic will always give away what is inside.
BTW, with my  filter, the pictures were NOT visible on my computer, just the text, and links that could not open.

I am sure that there is a way to turn picture rendering from external URL's off.

If it is not a simple machines setting, then I am sure there is a way to do it with web server (apache).

If anyone needs help investigating, I would be happy to lend a hand.

I also noticed that there is no CAPTCHA (squiggly letter image) to sign up for the site.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha

That means that spam bots can write scripts to automate the login creation and posting process very easily.

I am sure simple machines has IP logging capabilities so there should be a way to filter for IP/IP ranges (not a long term solution, but if it is one spammer, we may be able to stop it).

GUE probably has people more knowledgeable than myself in these area's, but this would be my gut suggestion.

Adding a captcha would prevent bots, but we don't know for certain that a bot is being used (although based on the layout of the posts it seems likely). The only real solution is to somehow disable external image linking on the forum. If this forum software can't do it, maybe we should switch to a different forum software.

Good news! I just went to the admin section and limited the size of pictures allowed to be posted to 1 X 1 Pixel. I hope that solves the problems!!

BTW. There IS a CAPTCHA in the sign up page. These must be real people (but not Jews, just spammers and hackers)

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I am presently using a combo. of K9 and Rimon. Nothing is 100% perfect, so it is better not to rely on only one type. If I remember correctly, the k9 did always remove the pics, (the bad one's)

Sign up with www.thejnet.com and ask them for the new LIVIGENT software that works with AI, it's called "Mehadrin". It can find skin colored pixels and removed the pics!

Me,
I also have Blue Coat and it did not block the pics. What do you think? And how do you get Rimon in the U.S?

This message may be a partial duplicate. Sorry.

In the U.S. you can only get the Jnet which is probably much better than Rimon.

If your k9 did not block the pics, than you may have it on too low of a setting. I think that mine is on the "Next" to highest setting. Anyway, with my experience,  it is NOt enough to have just one filter.

Me,

You are right. I do not have it set to block all pics, just "pornography".  It also forces "safe" search only. Even so, it misses a lot. However, it probably would not pick up anything on a "safe" site at any setting, especially not just thumbnails. If you know that I am wrong, please let me know.

J Net is also not available everywhere in the U.S. I just sent them an email to see if it became available where I am yet, but I doubt it.

Trust "ME",

If you set your  K9 to the next to highest setting, and you also  use their black list option: (you can enter all urls, and specific search "word" that you choose to enter), then the k9 will prove to very reliable.
Then when you find a few loop holes here and there, you must, (when you are feeling strong enough), to add these to your filter. I would say that Chanukah, being a chag that is L'malah Min Hatevah, this is a good time for all of us to do things, and take the extra precautions that will help to keep us clean. In other words, this is time for all of us here on the forum to use this week and to go, "l'malah min Hatevah.
