the Torah answers this question by sayin': ki im l'yirah es Hashem.
I think some answer (that the Torah means): Hashem wants you to be the best person you can be at this very moment, with whatever tools you have to use and whatever nisyonos are thrown your way....to make the best possible decision at the moment. Makin' good positive decisions usually come about when one is thinkin' Godly.
