I've bought one, and it gives me an extra boost to keep my eyes down. Every time I want to pick up my eyes on the street, I click it instead. In the past, I've only felt the negative part, the upsetness when I picked up my eyes. Now, I am besimcha every time I reach my destination and I see how many times I didn't pick up my eyes on the street.

It would be a good idea to have a counter on this website to count every time I stop myself from opening a website that is on my blacklist. Meanwhile, I am counting it on a random counter website.

I know this has come up earlier in this thread a number of times, but I am still lacking clarity on the following question: Should our goal be to constantly be “on alert” and “fighting” with the YH, or should our goal be to reach a state of “normalcy” where this YH no longer preoccupies us?

I see a few possibilities:

1. We need to constantly be on alert because there is no such thing as “normal” where the YH doesn’t bother us (יצרו של אדם מתגבר עליו בכל יום ומבקש להמיתו). This YH is with us for life and our job is overcome it and grow from the journey (which is why we have the YH to begin with). What it means for us to be “on alert” may change over time, but ultimately it means changing the way we go through life (and the street) and changing the kinds of thought patterns that we currently are accustomed to. If we break free of our current thought patterns by using a counter, then that is a wonderful thing.
2. The YH has a hold on us because we feed it. We need to stop giving it bandwidth and just ignore it and it eventually go away. It may take a while, and it may take practice and effort, but the goal is to slowly stop listening to that voice in our head and just be "normal" and gain freedom from the YH.

In answer to your question, I'd say "yes". 

You gotta do whatever works. Sometimes ignoring works, sometimes fighting works. It's almost impossible to be on edge fighting your whole life, and it's almost impossible for someone who ended up on this site to just ignore urges, be "normal" and not notice these things.
(Doesn't mean you need to be stressed and can't "laugh off" this "yetzer hara" (check out this lichtige post . (Okay it's three posts. Shoot me.))) In short, there's a time and place for both options you're presenting but for most people on the site, in this specific inyan, option 1 is probably more correct. Certainly in the beginning of the struggle.

For a person who hasn't struggled, getting fartracht about the delicious forbidden sights on the street or on the internet is a good way to start struggling.

I'm not one to usually write letters,

but I felt compelled to share this as

perhaps it may provide Chizuk for

others as well.





I've been working in the city for

many years. Recently, I've been

struggling in business like many

others.







While taking the carpool one morning around Pesach time,

I noticed the person sitting next to me watching a video

clip. I looked over his shoulder and found it quite

interesting. I asked him where it was from and he

introduced me to the organization Vayemaen.



Intrigued, I joined, and started getting the videos each

day.



Around Pesach time, I received a video of Rabbi Sperling (I

believe that's his name), where he spoke about keeping

track of every time you are careful with Shmiras Einayim.

And he showed the image of a counter. The idea caught my eye.



As a Zchus for my business, I decided I was going to buy

myself that counter and keep track whenever I had a

Nisayon of Shmiras Einayim. Working in the city, I'm

surrounded daily bv Nisyonos, and I decided to gather as





many opportunities as I could by looking away and looking

down.



It's a few months now, and I have already counted 483

incidents in which I turned away. Some of them were

extremely difficult, but I felt good every time I did. (I'm

including a picture of the counter which I picked up for a

couple dollars.)

But what I experienced following this private program of

mine, was amazing.



There have been numerous clients and deals I've worked

on for literally years, but I found myself at a standstill. It

was beyond frustrating.



About two months ago, I had the first big breakthrough

and a deal closed B"H with very little effort. And then

another, and another. Interestingly, some of those with the

same clients I've been working on for years, only this time,

with very little effort. I felt as though a clogged pipe of

Shefa was unclogged and as if Hashem was showing me

that if I worked hard in Ruchniyus issues, other things

would come easier. There's no other way to explain this.



I just want to say thank you to whoever is involved with

this amazing production. The Zchusim you have is

unmeasurable, and you will never know the extent of your

work.
